build to win™..........................

A Team Building Program to not only Build your Team, but to HELP others as Well

Build To Win™ was started out of efforts to relieve the poverty in Mexico in cooperation with a non-profit agency in Mexico known as Comision de Amor. Staff of Personnelity has worked with Comision de Amor since 1993. One of the original team building trips came as a result of a team of executives from Interstate Batteries who built two homes in Juarez, Mexico. This experience and the model that followed helped create the momentum for developing corporate team building experiences that aid the poor in Mexico.

Build To Win's mission is to serve the poor in Mexico while providing participants the opportunity to learn, develop, and implement team building strategies. The overall goal is to improve the dignity, outlook, and hope of the impoverished in Mexico and to develop strategic work teams that can grow and advance in their capabilities and productivity.

Team Development

Personnelity provides a full faceted team building experience that includes an assessment and leadership development component, a simulation component (building of home), and a application (debriefing) component. Together these team building processes strengthen and vitalize all types of teams and work groups.

Globalization, increased social diversity, information and knowledge explosion, and technological advances are revolutionizing organizations around the world. In addition, we can no longer rely on the traditional hierarchical structures and a few key people to maintain a competitive advantage. Only by using the collective knowledge and richness of diverse perspectives will we guide our organizations into the next century.

Personnelity has developed a process that will assist this movement toward a team-based culture. We are excited to share with you the most comprehensive approach available to effectively assist your organization in its quest for peak performance with team development.

Component 1 – Assessment and Leadership Development

Based on the identified needs of the organization, Personnelity can customize the assessment and leadership development experience to focus on specific needs or direction of the organization. Personnelity will utilize it's vast experience and wide array of tools and processes to deliver the right solution that specifically meets the needs of the organization.

Some of the Development processes include:

Component 2 – Team Simulation - BUILDING THE HOUSE

A high performing team is one that takes pride in its accomplishments. The focus is on results. The team sets high standards, meets deadlines, demonstrates accountability, and performs in a way that continually enhances productivity. To do this, the team will test out their skills in a team simulation by building a house for a poor needy Mexican family. Your facilitator will observe the process, interject suggested team practices, and reinforce the objectives of the organization. These two days will prove to be a challenging, exhausting, and extremely rewarding experience. To top it off, the day ends with the dedication of a new home to a very needy family, a gift that will benefit them a lifetime. Talking about taking pride in your accomplishments!

The families helped by BUILD TO WIN in Mexico are hardworking people whose average income is only $50-$60 a week. Their communities are usually only a few years old and were established because of the large influx of people looking for employment. In most cases, a family isn't capable of saving for a house to be built, because the government-owned lots they are buying are costly relative to their income. Additionally, the government doesn't have programs to assist the poorest of the poor with housing.

The Mexican people are very aware of their familial responsibilities, because the Mexican culture is family-oriented. It is not uncommon to have extended family members living in the same household. There is a tremendous sense of responsibility in the care for each other. Grandparents or aunts often live with a family to care for the children, while parents and other relatives work to support the entire family.

Component 3 – Leadership Development and Application

The final day of the process is a debriefing session where new team skills are reviewed, simulation experiences are discussed, and creation of an action plan for continued team development is created. This is an ongoing team-building process for teams who want to achieve sustained high performance.

In order to further facilitate this process, during this stage of the training the team will:

  • Review the team's stage of development.

  • Identify team strengths and development needs.

  • Create an action plan for continued development.
